Nitro Pro 11 Activation - Discontinued?

I'm trying to install Nitro Pro 11 on a new computer, and I am not able to successfully activate my license.  Following the on-screen instructions results in this error.  Following the support page for Activation self-service will successfully pull up the license record, but will not show any available sessions to select for deactivation.  Following the on-screen instructions for manual activation process ends up stalling at the activation web server page, which loads a 404 Error rather than the relevant web page, which means the activation certificate cannot be computed/retrieved.  Finally, the forum sticky indicates that the sunset policy advises Nitro 11 Pro activation servers are no longer active; however, no indication is given regarding whether this is supposed to mean there is no method available to activate the version I own or not.

Please advise how I would need to activate my license for Nitro 11 Pro going forward?  Thank you!

Hello @Harrison Chu,

Thank you for the private message.

Please note that we no longer support Nitro Pro 11 and its activation servers have been shut down which is why you are getting an error message.

We recommend to upgrade to our latest version, V13, which comes with significant stability and security improvements, as well as many feature enhancements, in particular in conversion and OCR functions. To upgrade to Nitro Pro 13, please visit our Upgrade page https://www.gonitro.com/pro/upgrade

Alternatively, you can upgrade to the latest build of Nitro Pro 12. Per our Sunset Policy, https://www.gonitro.com/nps/product-details/sunset-policy , we have stopped making feature enhancements to version 12 once we released version 13.

You can find Nitro Pro 12 installer in this page and activate it with your current Nitro Pro 11 serial number 234601-xxxxxx-478229:

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Go Nitro Is Crap

I had the same issue. So basically I've wasted my money on Nitro Pro, as it redundant.

Go Nitro is preventing Nitro Pro 11 from reinstalling - trying to force you to buy the latest version.

But why would you do that? So that Go Nitro can disable the software you bought again?

Nah. Better of going to a less dishonest software provider than won't cancel your product on you.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums and our sincere apologies as we needed to upgrade our licensing servers where Nitro Pro 11 runs on.

Please understand that if you prefer not to upgrade to version 13, you can still install Nitro Pro 12 using the installer from below page and activate it using your Nitro Pro 11 serial number 234600-xxxxxx-840369:

https://www.gonitro.com/nps/product-details/downloads

With our newest licensing server, kindly be aware that the issue of license reverting to 'Trial Expired' when a major Windows Updates was installed and generating null-id (Computer ID of all '0's) has been fixed in version 12.16.9.574.

Again, our sincere apologies for this inconvenience and I hope this helps.

Hello @Harrison Chu,

I installed Nitro Pro 12.16.9.574 and was able to activate without issues.

With this, our licensing server is up and running.

Do you have the same build of v12 installed?

Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

@AllainU,

It looks like I had an older version, 12.16.3.574.  I've installed 12.16.9.574 and it seems to have activated without any further issue.

However, I'm still quite concerned about future instances where I will need to reinstall the software.  Since Nitro is choosing not to continue supporting deprecated versions of their product, shouldn't they provide a method to manually authenticate licenses for those of us who purchased it that isn't reliant upon a server you've abandoned?  I don't see how pulling the plug and leaving everyone in the dark is in any way an acceptable practice.  And I'm just going to point out the elephant in the room here and I apologize if I'm stepping on some toes here, but to be completely frank, future sales (if that is the driving concern here) should not be a motivating factor nor a reason to snub your existing customers this way.  When you rollout a new build cycle, the reason why customers should want to purchase it is because of added value or functionality, and not just "because it's been another calendar year" or you've "added +1 to the version number".  If your dev team can't even stand by their own work and trust that there is perceivable worth to the cost of upgrading, then you may as well revise your language and call it "leasing" the license, not "purchasing"; at the very least, that would be more honest and forthcoming.
