Trying to install. Get the message "something is blocking Nitro from proceeding." Clicking "continue" is supposed to close the application so the download/installation can continue, but it doesn't. I just get the same error message on and on and on and on. The program that is allegedly the problem is "Brother Control Center (br.cntrl.ctr.exe)" but I cannot find that file on my computer.

Massively, massively frustrated with the inability to call a support line, chat with anything other than a bot, or submit a ticket. I couldn't even find a way to purchase the upgraded plan that would ALLOW me to submit a ticket.

Hello @Jennifer Applegate

Thank you for posting on our Community Forums!

The "Something is blocking Nitro from proceeding Error occurred when resolving resource" message normally appears when you are using our .exe package and it is because it requires a stable Internet connection to download installation files so please use our offline English MSI packages:

x32 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_13.70.2.40/en/retail/nitro_pro13_ba_x86.msi
x64 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_13.70.2.40/en/retail/nitro_pro13_ba_x64.msi

About the Brother Control Center (br.cntrl.ctr.exe) error: The Brother Control Center is still holding a directory open that Nitro needs access to when installing.

I have some steps that I would like you to try:

Please open the Windows Task Manager with the shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE
When you have the console running > click on the Processes tab > look for BrCtrlCntr.exe > select it > click the End Process button.

After that go down to the System Tray (where the clock is, down the bottom right of your screen) and expand the icons to see the programs running.
If you can find Brother Control Center running there as well, please close it.

Now try to install Nitro again.

Please let me know how that goes.

omg thank you. The system tray was the problem. (My internet connection is very stable, so I was able to use the normal download link.)

Can you tell me about, or direct me to the part of your website that explains, the service level that would enable me to open a ticket? Apparently you need some VIP level of something?

I'm trying to update my version of Nitro and I'm having the same issue with the online installer. The above link doesn't seem to be working (Google Chrome). Is there somewhere else where I can download it?

The error message you're seeing suggests that there might be a browser extension, firewall, or security software blocking Nitro from functioning properly

Disable Browser Extensions: Some browser extensions can interfere with website functionality. Disable all your browser DM extensions and try again. If it works, re-enable your extensions one by one to identify the problematic one.
