Document permissions limiting functionality

It seems that when I try to do a variety of things, such as today to print a document I had created, I get this error message:

"Document permissions do not permit this action. Enter the document owner password to permit this."

I don't have a document owner password, at least to my knowledge!

In this case, ' had scanned a page, perform OCR, and then did a translation (using DeepL). It's when I try to print this translation that the problem is occurring. But yesterday, I received a similar message with respect to other messages.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could please advise why this problem has come up, and how I can overcome it.

I am using Nitro PDF Pro 13.0 on a iMac (Venture 13.0.1). I might add that I"m a long-time user of PDFPen, and have never experienced an issue like this before. I can't find anything in all the help documents that seem to be relevant.

Many thanks

Greetings @Burt Perrin

Thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums!

Please check the permissions set on the document and see which actions are allowed and not allowed.
Here are the steps:

1. Open the document in Nitro PDF Pro
2. At the top right, click the Inspector icon. This will bring up a small window.
3. Click the Padlock icon to display the Document Permissions. See the screenshot below:

If the Print checkbox is not checked, it means that this action is not permitted for anyone who will print the document.

Kind regards,

Thank you Reymund for your reply.

Unfortunately, this, at least does far, does not seem to help. When I tried what you suggested, every possible action is grayed out. I'm told to enter the owner password to edit permissions. But what is this password? This is a file that I created myself, scanning in a letter and then performing OCR to be able to work with it. So, could you please suggest what I need to do either to get a password tone able to edit permissions? Or, should I have saved/edited this file in some other way to avoid this problem? Or can you suggest any other workarounds?

Many thanks again for your guidance,

Burt

Hi @Burt Perrin

The steps above are to check the document permission so we could determine if Printing action is allowed on the document.

After following the above steps, what is the status of the Printing checkbox?
You can also send a copy of the document here so we could check on our end.

Kind regards,

No actions of any kind are permitted, printing as well as everything else. And all grayed out so I can't figure out how to modify these. Again, this is a file that I had created myself, OCR of a scan.

Thank you for your offer to take a look at the document. I can't figure out however how to send an attachment (just image from URL that doesn't help). Could you please advise me how I can send this document to you?

Many thanks again,

Burt
