Free version not complaining about read-only files

Using Windows 7 64-bit, the lovely MIS department has disabled updates since last summer because they didn't want to be bothered with Windows 10 update (yes, you read that correctly). HP Z220. CPU-Z says I have 8 GB.

Nitro Reader 5.5.6.21, checked for updates none.

If a file is read only, when I click on the Save Icon, there is no warning that file is read-only. Then when I go to another computer to print (don't ask), I get the original contents. After this happened two times to me, I thought, gosh, wonder if its read only, and it is

The pdf file is on a network drive.

Another thing, I am using Syncthing to keep a copy of all projects, since the lovely MIS department can't be bothered with retrieving files from the tape archive (yes, you read that correctly). Doubt this matters.

Sorry, I thought the user ticket thingy was only for the paid version. I don't think I can attach the read only file, it is a company form. How hard is it to create a pdf with forms, I never did it.
