Error code: 0x40030004 when open edited pdf file, please help

Yesterday I edited my pdf file and save it as usual. However when I open it today, it opens ok but show the word "this is is corrupted/recovered". I continued editing and click Save, then the file go blank and when I reopen, it couldn't be opened and show the message "error code 0x40030004".

Can you help me the repair and restore the file. Thank you a lot.

I have had the same problem. Yesterday I edited my document. This morning it will not open and Nitro reports Error code: 0x40030004. Please can you provide me with help to fix this problem. Thanks

Hello @jadedang3010 @Martin,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

There are times where files created in Office 2010 through the built in "Save As - PDF" function have intermittent issues opening in Nitro Pro.

Assuming this is the case, I recommend that you open the file in Adobe Reader, re-save it and re-open it in Nitro Pro will fix this issue.

Hi Allain - thanks very much for your post, opening and saving in Adobe Reader (as you suggested) overcame the problem and the file will now open in Nitro again.

This is the Third time I have the same problem.

I use Checklists for my job, and wanted to modernize using Nitro. I'm taking pdf Checklist and write on it, modifying it as intended to do so with Nitro. How ever  after few open/edit/save iterations this document becomes corrupted/repaired and will not open at all.

I tried opening it in Adobe and save as again, but no result.

This was Third time it happened to me (and it is 3 out of 3 attempts) and if no solution, it will be my last using this product.


Hope You will halp me solve this issue (I/m using NItro Pro 9)

The Nitro Pro 13.40 was release last April 29th and the error message 0x40030004 appears to be resolved
The latest build of Nitro Pro 13 can be located from the following location: 

https://www.gonitro.com/nps/product-details/downloads - Click the 'Download Nitro Pro 13' link 

To check the build of your Nitro Pro 13 installation, open the software then go to the Help tab > About Nitro Pro.
