Zach
I have been using this tool to edit a presentation and it was working perfectly. All of the sudden it stopped saving, froze and then I got the error - Error Code: 0x40000001 How do I fix this?

Official Nitronaut Kelvin B. Villarin Posted January 2, 2019 Official Nitronaut Report Share Posted January 2, 2019 Hi @J-dub, Thanks for posting on your Community Forums! In Zach's case (Error Code: 0x40000001), he had issues related to saving an edited document. If you are encountering the exact error code, I suggest using these steps: - Open the file in Nitro Pro - Go to the Home tab > Extract > All Pages (Ex: choose the Pages radio button and type in 1-100) - This will create a duplicate document which you will be able to save - Update your copy of Nitro Pro: https://www.gonitro.com/nps/product-details/downloads Error codes that begin with 0x400xxxxx means that it has triggered a Windows system error. The last digits above are a Windows Error code which should shed light on the nature of the issue. These digits are in hexadecimal format so first you need to convert this to a decimal number using a converter such as the one here: http://www.binaryhexconverter.com/hex-to-decimal-converter Once you have the number, you can look it up using the following official Microsoft database of these errors: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms681381(v=vs.85).aspx You can then use the full error code to help diagnose what the potential cause is. There are a high number of possible error codes. Please feel free to provide the exact error you are getting so I can better assist you. Cheers! J-dub
Kelvin- Thank you, thank you, thank you. Yes, in my case the error was exactly the same for exactly the same reason. I had spent a good chunk of the day tweaking a form so it looked perfect. On my last tweak, things went bad. Nitro would go in and out of focus on the display, and when attempting to save the tweaked file, the clock would spin and spin and spin, and then I'd get the "couldn't save the file" "error 0x40000001", "contact support" (on a holiday) box. I tried several things including file name changes, optimize PDF, etc. but not extracting and saving. Extracting and saving worked. Your answer (and on a holiday) was perfect. Thanks again.
