Remove highlighting

I am really new to this product.  Can someone tell me how to remove highlighting from a document?  It is text I highlighted for a client but now I need the text to not have the highlighting.

Thanks.

Hi @debbgrif,

The highlight creates an 'annotation' layer over the text.
Using the 'Hand' tool, simply left-click the highlighted text to select the annotation.
You will notice that a red box will appear and the 'Annotations' menu will become available in the ribbon.
You can then simply press 'Delete' on your keyboard to remove the highlight.

I need to do similar, but want to remove all annotations (highlights and comments) from a long document.  So this method isn't practical.  How can I delete the entire annotation layer all at once?   Thank you!

I would also like to know how to apply this resolution for removing highlighting from an entire document, but don't see an answer here.

Hello @slesliec @ppeters3,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

To remove all highlighting from an entire document, you may use Optimize PDF > Remove Object tab by going to File tab.

To learn more about this feature, please refer to this article: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/optimiz/000001940

Cheers!

Thank you, Allain.

I tried that, but after 4 hours it still had not finished the job on my practice document which was only 1 page long. My project for my client is 172 pages long, so this did not work at all.

Hello @slesliec,

Thanks for your response and my apologies for this inconvenience.

To further assist you, could you please provide the following?:

-Nitro Pro build (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) you are working with. You can find this out by clicking on 'About Nitro Pro' under the Help tab (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) or you can go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
-A sample file (with sensitive information extracted) so I can replicate it on my end. To send me the sample file, hover your mouse on top of my name 'AllainU' and select 'Message'.
-Where is the file saved (local, a shared drive or an external drive) when you are trying to run Optimize PDF? Can you check if you have the same issue when the file is saved locally?

Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

I find this exchange highly interesting, although (at the moment at least!) I don't have quite the same problem.

I was wondering how one can get the menus shown on your screenshot – File, Home, Convert, Review ... , then submenu Hand/Edit/Zoom/ etc. All I have is top menu North PDFPro File, Edit, View, Format ... , and the next line Sidebar, Zoom, Scale ...

The menu you show does seem to open some possibilities going beyond my current level of competence in using PDFPeo (13.3.0 on a Mac, Ventura),

Many thanks,

Burt

As a follow up to my previous message, I suspect that the example you have shown is for the Windows version rather than for PDFPen for Mac. As far as I can tell, this seems to apply to the illustrations on various topics in the Knowledge Base, which really limits the usefulness of this information for Mac users.

Do I have this correct? If so, is it possible to provide support, including help pages and the like, for Mac users? Since Nitro has taken over PDFPen, the level of support available seems to be MUCH reduced, which is, to say the least, not terribly inviting.

Greetings @Burt Perrin

Thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums!

The steps provided here are for Nitro PDF Pro for Windows and do not apply to PDFpen/PDFpenPro which is now rebranded as Nitro PDF Pro for Mac.
Regarding the self-help and knowledgebase of Nitro PDF Pro for Mac, please refer to the links below:
