Remove highlighting

I am really new to this product.  Can someone tell me how to remove highlighting from a document?  It is text I highlighted for a client but now I need the text to not have the highlighting.

Hi @debbgrif,

The highlight creates an 'annotation' layer over the text.
Using the 'Hand' tool, simply left-click the highlighted text to select the annotation.
You will notice that a red box will appear and the 'Annotations' menu will become available in the ribbon.
You can then simply press 'Delete' on your keyboard to remove the highlight.

I need to do similar, but want to remove all annotations (highlights and comments) from a long document.  So this method isn't practical.  How can I delete the entire annotation layer all at once?   Thank you!

To remove all highlighting from an entire document, you may use Optimize PDF > Remove Object tab by going to File tab.

I tried that, but after 4 hours it still had not finished the job on my practice document which was only 1 page long. My project for my client is 172 pages long, so this did not work at all.

To further assist you, could you please provide the following?:

-Nitro Pro build (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) you are working with. You can find this out by clicking on 'About Nitro Pro' under the Help tab (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) or you can go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
-A sample file (with sensitive information extracted) so I can replicate it on my end. To send me the sample file, hover your mouse on top of my name 'AllainU' and select 'Message'.
-Where is the file saved (local, a shared drive or an external drive) when you are trying to run Optimize PDF? Can you check if you have the same issue when the file is saved locally?
