Now very very slow to make PDF files, was very quick

My Nitro Pro (version 10) has always been very fast to make PDF files.  But now it is very very slow, when it had been very fast.

Here is what I think happened:  Another software program said there was an update for Nitro Pro, so I clicked on the link.  That turned out to be to install the newest Nitro Pro version 11, which I found out when I entered my license key.  No harm, no foul or so I thought.

I am guessing something was left that is causing my version 10 to now be slow?

Can I delete Nitro Pro and re-download version 10?

Hello @Forrest,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

The slowness of your Nitro Pro 10 could be related to the fall update from Microsoft that has caused some programs.

To answer your question, yes you can uninstall your Nitro Pro 10 via Control Panel > Programs and Features (Settings > App > App and Feature if you're using Windows 10) and re-download it from this http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/installer/000001632

Cheers!

Hello @Alex Maxwell,

Thanks for your patience and for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

Kindly run Nitro Pro with Compatibility mode by referring to these steps:
1. Right-click Nitro Pro desktop shortcut or the NitroPDF.exe (by default is installed in C:\Program Files\Nitro\Pro 10) then select Properties
2. Nitro Pro Properties window will open, click on Compatibility tab
3. Under Compatibility Mode, tick the box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for', click the drop-down arrow and select Windows 7 if you're using Windows 10 (Choose Windows XP if you're using Windows 7)

Cheers!

have nitro 12 now.  I will see how this performs..

btw  i see there is a "request signature" in my tools now.    I used it yesterday and it worked impeccably.  Is this going to be a 'free' service?

No better with Nitro 12 and/or compatibility mode.  Starts out working fast but gets slower and slower.  Restarting my laptop resolves the problem until it slows again.  :-/

So i am still having problems with Nitro gradually slowing when i combine several items to make one pdf.

I have a one page excel file a one page word file and two pre made pdf files that i combine to make one pdf.

Every time i use Nitro to combine it gets slower by several seconds.  I have been timing it with a stopwatch. I have tried everything from restarting print spooler, nitro, excel and word.  The only thing that makes any difference and it is a huge difference is restarting my laptop.  From 2min+ to 23 seconds.

I so wish i had just spent the extra money and bought adobe.

Hello @Alex Maxwell,

I trust you're doing great today and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Let us try some troubleshooting by referring to these steps:
1. Clear the content of the directory under C:\users\your_username\Appdata\local\temp. For whatever reason, not all temp files automatically remove themselves and is NOT usually caused by Nitro Pro files.

2. Download and run our Clean Up utility to uninstall your Nitro Pro: http://install.nitropdf.com/support/downloads/cleanup.zip

NOTE: This clean-up tool will erase any existing signature files within Nitro so please save them to another location before using the clean-up tool in order to keep them. Please see this link for backing up custom stamps/signatures: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/stamps/000001686

3. Extract the utility to the desktop (it doesn't always run from the zip)
4. Run the utility then reboot your machine.
5. Please clear all your downloads folder or delete all downloaded Nitro installers. This step is important because we noticed that if you are saving all the installers and you download them in the same folder (like the downloads folder), the EXE can pick up any MSI installed in that folder and you may pick-up one of the older builds instead of the newly downloaded package.

6. Download and install Nitro Pro 12.0.0.112 using offline installers:
x32 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1200112/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x86.msi
x64 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1200112/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x64.msi

If you are not sure which to pick, this will help: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/64/000001874

7. After installation, you can activate by opening Nitro Pro, clicking on the Help tab > About Nitro Pro > Activation and entering your serial number.

Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

I have not tried any of your suggestions yet but i have noticed i received an office 365 update in the last few days and since then i have consistently been combining at 15 seconds which is back to the times i used to get and a LOT better than the more recent times.

There does not seem to be any loss of time to complete over time like there used to be.

It seems like MS fixed the problem. Fingers crossed anyway.  I will let you know.
