rotate text?

Is there a way to rotate text to a desired angle or orientation? Couldn't find any other references or suggested improvements in the forum.

(currently using Nitro 10)

Thanks!

Yes- click on the text box, so you get the blue handle around the whole thing.  On top of the blue handle you'll a blue arrow.  Use the handle to rotate your textbox in the desired direction. Just click somewhere else on the page when you are done.  Your textbox is now rotated.  (Editing this may prove to be a bit of a pain though).

This should definitely be in Nitro 10- I tried it with 10.5.8.44.  It's definitely in Nitro 11 as well.

You want to use the Edit tool, under the Edit tab. When you are over the text box, you want the cursor to change to a four headed cursor, not the pointer or text cursor. Click when you see that, and then the blue rotated arrow will show up right above the text box.

Okay, I've re-tested this on Nitro 10 & 11, and the directions below should let you do this without issue.

Depending on if you have a text form field, or a more general box with text, there's two separate ways (it's the same for Nitro 10 & 11).

For text form fields:
Under Forms, click Select Fields, and select your text field. Under the General section on the left, there's a Rotate option. This allows for 90 degree rotations left or right, and resetting back to 0 degrees.

The other way is to use the Edit button- if you see a blue box around the text when you click on the Edit tool, that's this kind, and you should see a four headed white arrow when you move your mouse over the edges of the text box. Click once when you see this, and hopefully you'll see a blue arrow.  This arrow will let you free rotate the box.

If you don't see this blue arrow, it's probably because your item is an annotation- using the Type Text tool, and then wanting to rotate the text is the most likely reason here.
To be able to rotate the text box, select the text, and right click on it.  Choose flatten selection.  You can now repeat the steps above with the Edit button.

Good luck!

To save future visitors some time, NO, YOU CANNOT ROTATE TEXT YOU HAVE ADDED. Only pages. While the above instructions do "work" you will find that after it's rotated it's near impossible to copy, paste, move or otherwise manipulate the text.

It may be better and less frustrating to not even spend time in trying. Every time I did, the text remained stuck where it was pasted and only the background page image moved or I would get Mr. Gizynski's error message above.

hi, But the blue rotating arrow is not appearing all the time.  Sometimes it is appearing or sometimes not. Please advise.
