Open Nitro Pro in separate windows instead of tabs

Hi,

Can I set Nitro Pro 12's default so that when double click on a PDF file a Nitro Pro Window opens, and second PDF will open in a separate Window, instead of one window with 2 tabs?

Thanks.

Hello @JohnW,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

Nitro Pro is designed to behave like a web browser allowing users whom like working within one window vs multiple.

At the moment, the only option available would be to open files within the program and drag a tab out and create a new window. For detailed steps, please refer to this article:
http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/window/000002902

We are always looking to improve our user experience and I will pass on a request to add an option to choose how you wish to open documents within Nitro Pro.

Thanks for choosing Nitro Pro and I hope this helps!

Hi AllainU,

I did try the method that you suggested above but it doesn't seem to work on my desktop. Find below the snapshot link of error I get when I try to drag the tab to another window.

Please advise how can I revert feature?

Hello @h_singh,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

Based on the screenshot, you're using Nitro Pro 9 and I should let you know that we no longer support Nitro Pro 10 or older. It has been discontinued as documented in our Sunset Policy: https://www.gonitro.com/support/sunset-policy

As a courtesy, I have checked and even changed a registry entry to enable this feature but it didn't help. It means, multiple-window is not yet available in Nitro Pro 9.

If you would like to trial our latest product, Nitro Pro 12, you can download it from here: https://www.gonitro.com/pro/try

It will run as a full featured product for 14 days! After that, if you choose not to purchase it, you can still use it as a PDF reader. You can learn all about some of the features here: https://www.gonitro.com/resources/videos

Thanks for choosing Nitro Pro and I hope this helps!

Hi  Allain,  please pay attention. i just created an ID to send you this comment.

i have same query with JohnW. i understand that nitro basic has designed below concept but it is also easy to separate window because client want it.

Nitro Pro is designed to behave like a web browser allowing users whom like working within one window vs multiple.

i have same request with JohnW. it is fine that nitro basically has designed below concept but if client want to separate on different window, i think that it also fine to reflect as per client needs. in other words, it is easy to make it but some people are hesitant to choose nitro because of this feature. that's because nitro doesn't have a window splitting function what was built on Acrobat. i request that provide the option to enable 'open in new window' functions.

Hi,

i've just purchased Nitro Pro 13 as it looked very usefull for me.

I had only little time to test the trial software and thus focused on checking, if the main functions fit my needs.

I always prefer separate windows(instances) of a program instead tab-organized mode.

I must admit, I am badly surprised, that Nitro does not allow to select whether I want to open my pdfs in multiple windows instead of tabs.

Nearly all of the software I came across which uses tab layout allowed me to switch to multiple window mode.

Is there a plan yet to add multiple window mode?

Best regards

I agree, I recently switched from PDF Architect because of the unstability, freezing upon open and close a bunch, and I just paid a decent amount of money for the #1 PDF editor and I can't choose the option to open new PDFs in a new window, that seems like a bit of an oversight and cannot take much programming power to give us an option in preferences.

I have Nitro Pro 13.70.2.40.  Is the ability to turn off the tabbed interface available now so that when multiple PDF documents are opened via Windows Explorer it will open multiple windows instead of multiple tabs in one window?  Thanks

i was coming to search and find out how this is done and i'm totally surprised that this is not available! from 2018!

You need to put on the tabs when you right click inside all the options of vertical tab, horizontal tab a NEW WINDOW.

Even if you go with the "Nitro Pro is designed to behave like a web browser allowing users whom like working within one window vs multiple" as you mentioned again all beowsers have a "open in new window" option!

the alternative of drag-n-drop is not an argument 😃

Please design team make this happen. new customer and i love nitro so far

Hi,
My workplace has just changed to Nitro Pro as PDF Handler.
I too am used to and prefer to have my PDF's open in a new window rather than a tab, as this facilitates the transition of visually comparing and moving (drag & drop) pages between documents.

Please add this as a preference option in Nitro Pro.

also being able to set default Sidebar open to Page thumbnails would be great.
