Nitro Pro installation issue

Ani Dutta

Recommended Posts

I reformatted my drive to do a clean install of Win 10 Pro ( Version 1803, most current). I have been trying to install Nitro Pro ( tried both v11 and v12), but i have been running into issues. After the program is downloading, setup is not completing.  Following links are screenshots of what i am running into. I had been using Nitro Pro 11 before on the same machine without any issues. I have tried disabling my antivirus while installing to see if that could have been causing issues.

Help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ani

Hello @Ani Dutta,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

Based on the screenshots you provided, I can see you are installing using our online package because it downloads the files from our servers.

To further assist you with your concern, kind install using our offline installer by referring to these steps:
1. Clear the content of the directory under C:\users\your_username\Appdata\local\temp. For whatever reason, not all temp files automatically remove themselves and is NOT usually caused by Nitro Pro files.

2. Download and run our Clean Up utility to uninstall your Nitro Pro: http://install.nitropdf.com/support/downloads/cleanup.zip

NOTE: This clean-up tool will erase any existing signature files within Nitro so please save them to another location before using the clean-up tool in order to keep them. Please see this link for backing up custom stamps/signatures: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/stamps/000001686

3. Extract the utility to the desktop (it doesn't always run from the zip)
4. Run the utility then reboot your machine.
5. Now manually check for left over registries from Nitro Pro (Run > regedit) and delete them. Make sure to save a backup before making any change. Reboot the machine again after deleting Nitro Pro traces.
6. Please clear all your downloads folder or delete all downloaded Nitro installers. This step is important because we noticed that if you are saving all the installers and you download them in the same folder (like the downloads folder), the EXE can pick up any MSI installed in that folder and you may pick-up one of the older builds instead of the newly downloaded package.

7. Download and install Nitro Pro 12.2.0.228 using below offline installers:
x32 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1220228/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x86.msi
x64 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1220228/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x64.msi

If you are not sure which to pick, this will help: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/64/000001874

8. After installation, you can activate by opening Nitro Pro, clicking on the Help tab > About Nitro Pro > Activation and entering your serial number.

Thanks for choosing Nitro Pro and I hope this helps!

Hi on the topic,

Dear AllainU,

I see that you are the expert in the reinstall of Nitro.
I tried the above procedure too on the topic I raised yesterday

No result, still I can not install the printer driver. The message is:  Installation of the printer driver failed. Might be it is the problem of my W7 copy/installation?
Is it possible to install manually the virtual printer driver trough MS  'Add new printer' procedure? Have you got any idea/suggestion?

Best regards

Tibor

Hi, I'm having a very similar issue. I was able to install v12 okay, but am getting the same error message (Setup wizard has failed, Setup ended prematurely) when I try to install both the online and offline installers for v11 and v10 (I have a registered serial number for both).

I tried following the steps outlined here, but it didn't work.

A couple of quick questions --

  • when I run the utility, it basically just flashes open, then closes. Is this the extent of the action that should happen from running the utility script?
  • when looking through the registry, should I be searching the entire registry for anything Nitro related, or only specific portions. I did a find for the whole registry and it froze up on me.

Hoping I just followed the steps incorrectly and the above outlined solution is correct, because I really need my activated Nitro back asap.

Thanks for any help!

Kevin

I am having a similar issue to KWright above.  Unable to install (and transfer license) of Nitro Pro 11 to a new computer, (Win 10 Pro 64bit).

Error Message:  "Nitro Pro Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error."

* Have reset folder permissions, using KB article here http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/wizard/000003265

* have also been through the troubleshooting steps posted above, by AllainU (using the cleanup utility).

Still no luck, unable to install.

Hello @ajkochis,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

Kindly run MS FixIt to clear traces of Nitro Pro from the machine by accessing this page:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

After running this free too, please reboot your machine and try installing again.

Thanks for choosing Nitro Pro and I hope this helps!

Hello Allain,

On the positive side, after following the link that ajkochis provided and changing ownership of the windowsapps folder (and after following steps you previously outlined), I was successfully able to install nitro.

On the negative side, because Nitro was installed on this machine when it previously crashed, I was unable to deactivate and have no more licenses. Is there any way to deactivate a machine remotely?

Thanks,

Kevin

I am having the same issue as Ani, the file downloads and then I get "Nitro Pro Setup Wizard Has Failed"

I am downloading Nitro 11 onto a new computer that has never had Nitro Pro on it before.

I have tried EVERY thing mentioned on this thread and still having issues - please advise.

@AllainU I am having the same issue as the others report above.  I am trying to download Nitro Pro 10 and keep receiving an error message saying the setup wizard failed.  I tried the steps you previously suggested.
