Not really- the best way to do a checkmark is actually to create a signature of a checkmark image from somewhere, and then use QuickSign to add the checkmark to the box you need. See the post here:

This way you get a transparent background instead of the solid one you normally get with a stamp.  Obviously this isn't the ideal solution (that would be a native checkmark stamp), but it's a really good idea.
