Unable to Update to latest version

Hi,

I run a licensed copy of NitroPDF and have for many years. Currently I am on 12.0.0.108.

Thought I'd check for any updates and noticed version 12.9.1.474 available here: https://www.gonitro.com/nps/product-details/downloads which I then downloaded.

I then ran the downloaded nitro_pro12.exe to initiate an update and it goes along fine and then eventually get a "Nitro Pro Setup Wizard has failed". If I try and Repair the NitroPDF or even uninstall the program I get the same error message "Nitro Pro Setup Wizard has failed".

If I remember correctly there used to be option within NitroPDF to run Updates but this seems to have disappeared from the software.

Could someone out there please advise how I get NitroPDF to the latest Update / Version?

Regards,

Robert

Hello @rjschilt,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

This error could be caused by installing using the old installer still saved within your machine.

To further assist you, kind refer to these steps:

1. Clear the content of the directory under C:\users\your_username\Appdata\local\temp. For whatever reason, not all temp files automatically remove themselves and is NOT usually caused by Nitro Pro files.
2. Download and run our Clean Up utility to uninstall your Nitro Pro: http://install.nitropdf.com/support/downloads/cleanup.zip

NOTE: This clean-up tool will erase any existing signature files within Nitro so please save them to another location before using the clean-up tool in order to keep them. Please see this link for backing up custom stamps/signatures: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/stamps/000001686

3. Please clear all your downloads folder or delete all downloaded Nitro installers. This step is important because we noticed that if you are saving all the installers and you download them in the same folder (like the downloads folder), the EXE can pick up any MSI installed in that folder and you may pick-up one of the older builds instead of the newly downloaded package.
4. Download and install Nitro Pro 12.9 using below offline installers:

x32 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1291474/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x86.msi
x64 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_1291474/en/burn/nitro_pro12_ba_x64.msi

If you are not sure which to pick, this will help: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/64/000001874

5. After installation, you can activate by opening Nitro Pro, clicking on the Help tab > About Nitro Pro > Activation and entering your serial number.

Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

Hi @AllainU,

Thanks for getting back to me. Did all the suggested steps but that still an error - at the point of install. Different error this time but nevertheless an error.

"Nitro Pro Setup Wizard ended prematurely"

I would like do a full manual uninstall of NitroPDF before proceeding with an install as suggested by your post. I tried this and get the same error as before: "Nitro Pro Setup Wizard has failed".

Is there a manual (full) uninstall executable available from NitroPDF do you know?

Please continue to assist as I'm eager to get this resolved.

Hello @rjschilt,

Thanks for your response and my apologies for the delay.

The Clean-up tool that I provided on my previous post here is a .vbs file that should uninstall Nitro Pro from your machine.

If that tool didn't help, you may also run MS FixIt from this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

After running this tool, please reboot your machine. Then open this forum post and refer to the Word document that was provided by my colleague. The steps in the document should also work with Nitro Pro 12:

Thanks for choosing Nitro Pro and please don't hesitate to reach out again if you have further questions
