Hi, I have recently upgraded to Nitro Pro v11 and my PDF's constantly open in a web browser rather than in Nitro.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Hello @richardd@greenstonegroup.c,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

What web browser is it opening on?

If in Chrome:

  • Open Chrome.
  • At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
  • At the bottom, click Advanced.
  • Under "Privacy and security," click Site settings.
  • Near the bottom, click PDF documents.
  • Turn on Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome.

If in Firefox

  • Click the menu button Fx57Menu and choose Options.
  • In the General panel, navigate to the Applications section.
  • Find Portable Document Format (PDF) in the list and click on the entry to select it.
  • Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry. The Action entry will show Preview in Firefox when you're using the built-in PDF Viewer.
  • Select Nitro Pro to have PDFs open in Nitro

I hope that helps!

Leslie,

All this setting does in Chrome is force the PDF file to be downloaded and it has to be saved to disk.  Is there  a way to simply open the PDF file in Nitro from a web page using Chrome?    Such as Forms and Instructions on IRS.GOV?   It's rather annoying to have to download the file then open it.. OR open in Chrome and lose the ability to use Nitro..

Often I simply want to open and look at something then close and I don't want a downloaded file. Other times I want to download and save the file.  Sometimes I want to delete pages of a PDF before saving, or make notes or annotations and the browser's PDF viewers have no ability to do this.  I don't care for opening PDF's in browsers as they have limited functionality and are very slow with pdf files.

Thanks
