Original text disappears after so many text boxes.

I converted a word perfect document to pdf using Nitro Pro and after adding so many text boxes I opened it up in Adobe Acrobat Reader and all my text was gone and just the blank text boxes were visible. I routinely checked on it and 23 text boxes seemed to be the number right before it stopped working for me, but when I went back and deleted some until it was under 23 the text didn't reappear. Any ideas on what went wrong? Is there a limit of boxes per page?
