Font optimisation problems

As per my other post (re: PDF size bloat after editing) I am a Nitro Pro 12 user in my workplace and finding it very useful to break down website articles into PDFs (via 'printing' them using Chrome). 

The Optimize PDF helps me to shrink over-sized PDFs and this works well, most of the time. However, the "unused fonts" deletion is a pain to use as there's a 1-in-3 chance that almost all of the main body of text will be displayed as a corrupted font. Code listings or such like aren't affected though, just the main text in the article(s) that I am trying to edit.

I then have to go through every corrupted piece of text, double-click it, then change it to the *exact same font* it was using and it resets the text. However, this generates more bloat and I then have to re-optimise the PDF to get the file size back down to a smaller amount.

To add "insult to injury", Nitro Pro really does struggle with "fi" in that it changes that combination to some unicode character instead. Which results in more editing as I then have to wander through all of the text, finding and replacing this Unicode character with the correct letters.

(Unfortunately, my main PDF-editing machine, running Windows 7, is behind a corporate firewall so we don't have internet access, which means I can't send you the error reports).

Can you please let us know what build of Nitro you are using? (You can retrieve this information by going to the Help tab> About Nitro Pro.)
Please also include a file we can see and test and your exact steps. Screenshots will also be helpful.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you about my Nitro Pro problem(s).

My version number is 12.7.0.395

Unfortunately due to company rules and regs, my internet machine does not connect to the machine that runs Nitro, so I'm unable to attach any examples - other than buying a personal copy of Nitro and running it from home.

To help with the issues, I've bought my own personal copy of Nitro PDF (v13) as I've also got a large personal project on the horizon (preserving old computer books for a museum in the UK) via a standalone book scanner. I can forsee the above being a problem if it keeps occurring. 

As soon as I start scanning in and optimising the scans, I'll keep this thread up-to-date as best as possible. Plus with it being a personal copy, I can use the Cloud features which I cannot using my work copy.
