On a large document, say 5 MB large, if you remove all content but one page with minimal content, you'll notice that saving the new one-page document is still 5MB large in Nitro. It isn't until you go to Optimize PDF and Reduce file size that the size of the file actually reduces.
Removing content should automatically reduce file size on save, and not require an extra step.
