Serial Number Problem

I was exploring how much it would cost to take advantage of the latest upgrade I got an email notice of. I went to help to get my serial number and found it listed as 504962XXXXXXXXXXXX which isn't a valid SN. The product appears to be working OK and I just bought an upgrade during the prerelease sale a few months ago.

How do I input my correct SN without screwing anything up?

When I entered the SN from my original purchase receipt it said it wasn't a valid SN?

I am still confused. Why would my version show that wierd serial number and why would that up grade off say my serial number was not valid?
