Jeremy Gamble Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 We started using the free Nitro Reader application a few years ago for printing and viewing PDF's, and it's been an excellent tool for that purpose. Now, however, we've been finishing up our Windows 10 migration and I've had to reinstall Nitro on some of the PC's. The only installer I could find was the online installer for the Nitro Pro 13 trial, so I used that and just left the trial to expire. Unfortunately, for at least one of my users (at least, only one has reported it so far), since the trial expired, they've not been able to print PDF's through the Nitro PDF printer. I've tried creating the PDF's to both local and network resources. The prompt for the file name appears normally, and I've tried using simple names like "test.pdf". Watching the print queue, I see the print job go in, spool, then disappear as if it's completed successfully. No error messages pop up indicating that the PDF print job failed. However, the output PDF never appears and the Nitro application never launches (we've got it set to open the PDF when printing is complete). I'm not sure if this is a function of the expired trial, or if there's something else affecting the print driver. The "expired trial" pop-up and labels all around the application are annoying, knowing that our intention has always been to use the same, free tool we've used for years, but I understand their use. Regardless, the fact that the PDF generation is no longer working is a significant problem, and I'm now looking for a solution. I realize that I can have the user "switch" to using Microsoft's built-in PDF creation tools, but I'm doing my best to maintain consistency for the users in light of the OS upgrade.

Hey Jeremy_G, I'm having the exact same problem. Did you get it figured out? Thank you. Maia

Jeremy Gamble Posted February 12, 2020 Author Report Posted February 12, 2020 @maichrcol - The issue is still happening for my user, and I've currently got them using the default Microsoft PDF printer for Windows 10. That works, but is less than ideal for the situation. @AllainU - I've sent the requested screenshot via PM. As stated in my original post, the "nag" screen informing me that the Pro trial has expired continues to pop up anytime Nitro is launched, but it does successfully open PDF's once the user clicks the "Continue" button. If we can get the Nitro PDF printer to function, it would be really nice to see that screen go away - especially on opening a PDF immediately after creation.

My post must be approved by the moderator so I don't know when you will get this but I hope they come up with an answer. Good luck!
