Trying to get page view to work correctly

Hello all,

I am trying to get the page view default to work as two pages that scroll to move to the next page and open by viewing the first two pages. I have gotten all of this to work except each time I open any PDF it only shows page one, despite being in two page view (Facing Pages).

 

I have played with the default view settings in preferences and found that Facing pages default: Left seems to fix the issue. However closing the software and opening a PDF still only shows page 1. While the default is set to "Left" I can, while the PDF is open, still switch to a different view and then back to Facing Pages and it corrects itself, but it will not open the PDF by default this way.

This is my first time using Nitro after getting fed up with Adobe. if anyone can provide some assistance.
