Mike Anderson
When searching a doc for any term, Nitro freezes. I does not seem to matter which PDF it or from what source. The freezing seems to be random - sometimes a doc can be searched OK and other times it cannot. Example: Searching the simple one-page PDFs that come with Nitro, like the [Edit Text] page for the search term "edit" returns a few results and freezes Nitro. Task Manager does not show any problem with Nitro Pro, but the only way to close the app is by ending the task. I've tried a [Modify] repair from Windows Add Remove programs. I've uninstalled Nitro and run the Nitro Install-Clean VB script. I've run CC Clean to remove all remaining Nitro Registry keys I've reinstalled Nitro Pro (13.16.2.300) x64 The problem remains.... Can you check if you have the same issue when the file is saved locally? Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you. Mike Anderson
Here's a solution that works for Windows 10 users: run NitroPDF.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode. For any other users suffering from this issue, find the NitroPDF.exe in %PROGRAMFILES%\Nitro\Pro\13, then right-click the file to see the pop-up menu and select [Troubleshoot compatibility], then [Try the recommended settings]. Most likely it will set the compatibility mode to Windows 8.

After working with multiple docs and performing multiple searches, Nitro freezes, even in Windows 8 compatibility mode.
Samuel Freeman
This is such a problem. I have tried all the suggested remedies and nothing helps. The program continues to freeze on search. I may be forced to switch from Nitro after many years and many versions unless I can find a solution. Please, any other suggestions will be appreciated. wilsonfrocha61@gmail.com
I have the same problem an have found out the following: - usually if you search for a number, it works - Nitro doesn't care about this problem. It is very common, there are plenty of reports here, files are sent to them and there is no response to this issue

Official Nitronaut Allain Umailin Posted February 5, 2021 Official Nitronaut Report Share Posted February 5, 2021 (edited) Hello @wilsonfrocha61@gmail.com, If your customer has Nitro Pro 13 on a Windows 10, 'Windows 10 Suggested Text' feature could be causing this issue. This option can be found by typing 'Settings' into the Windows 10 search bar. On the settings pop up, search for and select 'Typing settings', then scroll down to the Hardware keyboard section and have the user turn off 'Show text suggestions as I type'. Once done, close /reopen Nitro Pro and try the search function again. Thank you for choosing Nitro and I hope this helps. Official Nitronaut Allain Umailin Posted July 4, 2021 Official Nitronaut Report Share Posted July 4, 2021 (edited) Hello @clare, Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums! For the sake of initial troubleshooting of this _ issue, we recommend that you repair your Nitro Pro. Please reboot your computer before and after running this repair to ensure that there are no ties to Nitro still active in the background. You may refer to this article: https://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/repair/000004603 If Modify button is greyed-out, please refer to this screen-cast that will teach you on how to go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Programs and Features and repair your Nitro Pro program or any application installed on your system:https://www.screencast.com/t/rvpUkq40c If repairing didn't help, could you please provide the following?: -Is this a new issue or has it occurred since after installing Nitro Pro? Any changes you are aware of before this happened (e.g. Windows Updates)? -The serial number of your Nitro Pro. To send it via private message, hover your mouse on top of my name 'AllainU' and select 'Message'. This matters because our business installers are different from the online ones. -Build of Nitro Pro are you working with. You can find this out by clicking on 'About Nitro Pro' under the Help tab (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) or you can go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you. Edited July 4, 2021 by AllainU
