Eran Blecher Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 When I click on the OCR tool the Nitro Pro program crashes. The workflow leading to is as follows: 1. I open a scanned PDF file 2. The OCR notification shows at the top right-hand corner 3. I click on it in order to use it, the Nitro Pro crashes. I need to use the OCR tool to edit the file/document. I need to select text in the scan.. When I click on 'Select Text' it selects the whole document, however, I need just a specific part. 1. Is there a way to select text in a scan without first running the OCR tool? 2. How do I fix the crash problem 3. I need to sometimes use the OCR tool, so how do I make it running properly? Thanks
Official Nitronaut Allain Umailin Posted January 1, 2021 Official Nitronaut Report Posted January 1, 2021 Hello @EBFH, Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums! Before we continue, could you please provide a screenshot of your 'About Nitro Pro' window under Help tab? This window should show the exact build of the program and its serial number (format is 13.X.X.X, e.g. 13.2.3.26). Also, have you tried running OCR by going to Review tab? Does it also crash? Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
Eran Blecher Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 It still crashed when I try running it from the Review tab Build is 13.26.3.505 Serial number is irrelevant to the issue Has anyone else experienced the same problem?
Official Nitronaut Allain Umailin Posted January 12, 2021 Official Nitronaut Report Posted January 12, 2021 Hello @EBFH, Thank you for the private message. Upon checking our records, I was able to see that you have purchased a single user license. A single-user license can be used on two machines as long as you follow the rules outlined in our End User License Agreement (EULA): 'Licensee may install one copy of the Licensed Software on a single computer. The primary user of the computer on which the Licensed Software is installed may install a second copy of the software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or her home, provided the software on the portable or home computer is NOT USED at the same time as the software on the primary computer.' With regard to the crashing issue, we highly recommend updating to Nitro Pro 13.31 using below direct MSI installers: x32 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_13310605/en/retail/nitro_pro13_ba_x86.msi x64 http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_13310605/en/retail/nitro_pro13_ba_x64.msi To know if you have 32-bit or 64-bit, please refer to this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/15056/windows-32-64-bit-faq After updating, please check if the will still crash. Thank you for choosing Nitro and I hope this helps.
Eran Blecher Posted January 13, 2021 Author Report Posted January 13, 2021 OCR works fine after the update. Thanks. If I try to use the program at the same on two machines of mine. desktop and laptop, it will close in one of them and give error?
Official Nitronaut Allain Umailin Posted January 13, 2021 Official Nitronaut Report Posted January 13, 2021 Hi @EBFH, This is the first time we have received such issue so could you please try repairing the program on the affected machine? Please reboot your computer before and after running this repair to ensure that there are no ties to Nitro still active in the background. You may refer to this article: https://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/repair/000004603 If Modify button is greyed-out, please refer to this screen-cast that will teach you on how to go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Programs and Features and repair your Nitro Pro program or any application installed on your system: https://www.screencast.com/t/rvpUkq40c Thank you for choosing Nitro and I hope this helps.
Eran Blecher Posted January 19, 2021 Author Report Posted January 19, 2021 You misunderstand. In my last message I said that the OCR is now working properly. Apparently it was a version issue as when I updated to the most recent version it (OCR) worked. So I am not sure what you referring to when saying that this is the first time you guys received such issue. I am not going to do the repair as there is no need now that the OCR works.
