Cannot move signature in a standard PDF after placing it.

Trying to place a signature on a signature line of a PDF that is NOT a fillable form. It is unclear where the signature is going to land and when it inevitably winds up in the middle of the signature line, I cannot move it to the right location afterwards. What am I doing wrong because I don't see a way to be certain of the signature placement and I cannot re-align it afterwards either.
