Can't print to Kyocera printers with latest v12 version

I have the same issue as this user: -24 Activation Error with 12.14.0.558 - Activation/ Installation - Nitro Community Forums (gonitro.com)

After upgrading to 12.16.9.574, user's Nitro crashes when attempting to print to a Kyocera printer. It is not possible to roll back to a previous version of Nitro 12 (which do not have the printer issue) without running into the license activation issue (in the above linked thread).

It seems this is a known issue and there are no plans to fix this without forcing us to spend thousands on upgrading our users to v13. Is there a known solution to this?
