Change default mode

I've been trying Nitro as an alternative to Adobe Reader, but I think this issue is enough of an irritation that I don't want to pay to experience it going forward...

Every time a document is opened, the default tool is the hand tool, not the select tool. I almost always want the select tool to cut-and-paste text. This means I have to seek out the select tool every time I open a document (even if all the other open documents have the select tool selected). Moreover, sometimes two clicks on the icon are required before the hand tool is chosen. It's a significant irritant as there is no way to select the default setting. Thumbs down.
