Installing Nitro Pro 12 on a fresh W10 Pro Laptop fails

After my old laptop physically crashed (you really shouldn't drop it from a table!), I want to Install Nitro Pro 12 on my new one, running W10 Pro 21H2.

I have downloaded the following installation package: http://install.nitropdf.com/professional_12163574/de/retail/nitro_pro12_ba_x64.msi

When I activate this package, the installation starts, and it allows me to specify a target directory for the installation.

After defining a directory, the installation immediately stops, telling me, that an (unspecified!) error has occurred.

No further information is provided.

What is going wrong, what can I do to install the package?
