Sharepoint browser integration, does it work and can I test it with the trial?

I saw this promotional video from SharePoint Online Extension | Nitro (gonitro.com) and I got wildly excited. What I see in this video is unique and no other product offer this. The best I usually see is a way to connect the installed software to Sharepoint. This option is easy for a geeky employee but we're looking for something as easy as what is shown on the Nitro video.

I downloaded the pro trial and tried to see it in action but it's not there. Upon further reading, it looks like it requires extra manipulation from our IT department (source : Deploying SharePoint Online Extension | Nitro (gonitro.com) ). I'm looking for 2 answers here :

 

1) Can I test it on my home computer without going through the hassle of begging our IT department?

2) Can people here CONFIRM this feature still works? I think it is unlikely it still work but I'm open to be proven otherwise.
