Software Sunsets and Shutdown of Activation Servers

Hello, 

In 2017, I purchased Nitro Pro 11.  I am very unsettled that I spent so much money on software that I can no longer use, after only 6 years.  I understand the reasons for product sunset and cutting costs, but why would I spent $160 to simply lease software for a short time?

I still have use for my software and spending an additional $90 to upgrade is less than ideal. 

Are there any options that I have open to me?
