Treatment of first page with facing page view

Is there a way to toggle how the first page is treated with facing-page view? I would like to see the first page on the left hand column. Currently it's always in the right hand column.

(I asked this question earlier. Required approval. After a week, didn't find either post. Second attempt might be a duplicate. Couldn't find an email to an actual person at Nitro.)
