Bret A. Bennett
Hi, I'm running Nitro Pro 13.40.0.811 in Win11 Pro. The Windows 11 default pdf reader keeps reverting to Edge/Win11's pdf reader. I've tried everything I could find to halt this behavior. This worked very nicely until recently: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/microsoft-edge-keeps-setting-itself-as-default-pdf/3225afc1-05d5-4a38-ae78-549f27bc93d5 Yes, I've tried the normal end-user steps like setting .pdf as default everywhere in Win OS possible. My last option appears to uninstall Edge. I really don't want to do that just yet. Is there a resolution to this issue I haven't been able to find? Thanks for your help. Regards . . . Bret A. Bennett
Hi, No service like self service they say! For the benefit of the community, here's a fix for Win11 & NItro Pro 13.40... that works: Go here : https://www.thewindowsclub.com/allow-or-block-microsoft-edge-from-opening-pdf-files-externally and do the section titled "Allow or prevent Microsoft Edge from opening PDF files externally using Registry". That will show where/how to add HKCU\...\AlwaysOpenPdfExternally . That article doesn't mention it, but you'll also need to add HKLM\...\AlwaysOpenPdfExternally . Your comments and corrections are always welcome : ) Hth . . . Bret
Bret A. Bennett
Hi, Here's some additional info: Above I said, "That article doesn't mention it, but you'll also need to add HKLM\...\AlwaysOpenPdfExternally . " To clarify, by "add", I mean that you will need to create that key. Hth . . . Bret
