Nitro Pro 12 unable to handle multiple page combinations

OS: Windows 10 Build 1803 patched through August 2018

Nitro Pro version: and all previous builds of Nitro Pro 12

Summary of Problem

  1. Cannot scan multiple pages into a single document
  2. Application crashes when combining multiple files into a single document

Detailed Description of Problem (1)

I am unable to scan multiple pages into a single PDF document. From the application menu I select Home | PDF | From Scanner and scan a page. When prompted by Nitro Pro I select the option to scan additional page(s). I expect Nitro Pro to combine all of the scanned pages into a single PDF document. Instead, Nitro Pro drops all but the LAST page scanned.

Detailed Description of Problem (2)

I am unable to combine multiple PDF files into a single document. Nitro Pro consistently crashes in both of these scenarios:

  • From the application menu I select Home | Combine Files and click the Add Files button. I select two or more single-page PDF files. When I click the Create button, Nitro Pro crashes.
  • I load a single-page PDF document into Nitro Pro. From the application menu I select Home | Insert from File and then click the add Files button. I select one or more single-page PDF files. Then I I click the Next button. I can view all of the pages in Nitro Pro as a single document. HOWEVER, if I select Save as to save the file under a new name or in a new location Nitro Pro crashes.
    • NOTE: I can successfully save the document if I use the Save command to save the combined document with the name of the original single page document. This is not ideal because the original single page file is overwritten.

The loss of functionality in Nitro Pro 12 renders the program unusable for many of the tasks that I need to perform.

I have submitted a crash reports as well.

First of all, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

With regard to the first issue where you're unable to scan multiple pages to a single PDF document, please be informed that our engineering team is currently working on a fix but there's no ETA for its release. In line to your second concern, I recommend that you repair your Nitro Pro via the Control Panel > Programs and Features. Please reboot your computer before and after running this repair to ensure that there are no ties to Nitro still active in the background. If that does not work, please try these steps:
1. Download our Clean Up utility: http://install.nitropdf.com/support/downloads/cleanup.zip

NOTE: This clean-up tool will erase any existing signature files within Nitro so please save them to another location before using the clean-up tool in order to keep them. Please see this link for backing up custom stamps/signatures: http://kb.gonitro.com/knowledgebase#/search/stamps/000001686

2. Extract the utility to the desktop (it doesn't always run from the zip)
3. Run the utility.
4. Reboot your machine
5. Please clear all your downloads folder or delete all downloaded Nitro installers. This step is important because we noticed that if you are saving all the installers and you download them in the same folder (like the downloads folder), the EXE can pick up any MSI installed in that folder and you may pick-up one of the older builds instead of the newly downloaded package.

6. Download and install the offline version of Nitro Pro 12.2.0228 here:

7. After installation, you can activate by opening Nitro Pro, clicking on the Help tab > About Nitro Pro > Activation and entering your serial number.
