Wrapping Text in a Combo Box?

I've got a customer that has some rather long product descriptors that need to wrap in a drop-down box. I've tried adding in hard returns to make it work but they aren't recognized.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

I've looked into this, and there doesn't appear to be a way to do this natively.  If you're willing to try Javascript, you could investigate using a Custom Format category, and then using Javascript to detect the length and wrap.  I'm not entirely sure if that would work, but short of not using a drop-down box, there doesn't appear to be a solution.
