Sizing of Objects - Now too large a gap

I used to be able to use the whiteout feature to take out 1 line of text of a document. Now whether it only allows 5 lines of text or none. The same is true with the shape feature as I was going to try a work around and use a white rectangle. I am using 13 Pro and it was working fine 2 days ago, but not now. I reinstalled, same issue. Any ideas?
